Which 51-star flag design do you think the USA should adopt when Puerto Rico becomes a state? Given the president's trip to Puerto Rico today, statehood should be a done deal. (Kidding!) Still, when we do get a new state, we'll have to redesign the flag. The three likely candidates are above. Which do you like? I kind of like the one on the right.
The circular design is interesting, but can such a symmetrical shape be possible if we add a 52nd, 53rd, etc.? The middle design is ugly, so I'll stick with the one on the left.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, the US flag is far too busy for my tastes. The field turns pink from a distance or scaled down and the stars are too small.
I like the left one. The center one is strange (looks like an ancient Greek structure) and with the one on the right, I can't help but see the asterisk.
ReplyDeletethe 37 star flag looked like the center
DeleteDefinitely the circle. IMHO, if we're actually going to change the flag, change it enough that it looks changed (at a glance, the left wouldn't). And the center version just looks weird.
ReplyDeleteI like the circle. Gives a bit of a retro look back to the original flag, and it stands out from the rest.
ReplyDeleteThe original flag was not a circle; that's a myth. The original had a square formation in columns of thee, two, three, two, and three.
ReplyDeleteAh, thanks for the correction. I still like the circle formation, but would not be heartbroken if the US continued the square layout.
ReplyDeleteI like the round one, BUT, it kinda looks like the deathstar plans the rebels aquired. With the political turmoil we are in right now, having a flag that reminds one of a dictatorial regime with a evil power hungry emperor might not be the most politically advantageous decision.
ReplyDeleteI like the circle flag.
ReplyDeleteThen again, I think the U.S. should have used the 48-star Whipple Flag ( http://www.whipple.org/blaine/whippleflag.html ) after Arizona entered the union. Sure, we'd have had to change it when Alaska and Hawaii became states, but it would have looked better than the big rectangle they had.
/Circles and great stars make the coolest flags.
I think we should have bronze stars representing ten states each, silver stars representing 100 stars each and gold stars representing 1,000 stars each. But we shouldn't go to silver stars until we hit 60 states
ReplyDeleteSmart post admin but i think you need more explanation and more Pics

My vote is to abolish the penny and to satisfy all the Lincoln fanatics by choosing the middle one that resembles his memorial!
